Students report feeling comfortable and connected in a math class which can heal math anxiety and prior trauma. I view math as a vehicle for problem solving, critical thinking, persistence, resilience, kindness, equity and empowerment. My focus is to build relationships with respect and trust. I create innovative and engaging, culturally relevant classroom activities. I strive to make education equitable and inspire students to overcome barriers and keep working hard to achieve their goals. In addition to teaching at PCC for 13 years, I have professional experience as a Euro/Celtic shamanic healer. I studied with teacher Shannon Kelly for eight years. As I healed and overcame my personal trauma, I helped others to do the same. My classroom can be a healing experience for students with anxiety or a history of trauma. I have facilitated many healing groups and professional development workshops for social workers, nurses and teachers. Please feel free to email me with any questions. I look forward to connecting with you. |
